Consumer tech review: reMarkable 2

I purchased my reMarkable 2 in December 2021. It’s now been over 6 months and I am very pleased with how I’ve been utilising it both professionally and personally.

TL;DR

Likes: Light weight device, Keeps all of your (written) notes in one place, adjustment period is relatively short (< 1 week), search function is good (provided you label/tag pages and files appropriately), cloud functionality to back up your notes

Dislikes: The magnet connecting the marker (pen) and the device isn’t strong enough — I’d prefer if there was also some kind of pocket or strap for it. Cloud functionality requires a subscription payment (but there are a lot of great features you can utilise)

Designed to get you offline and concentrate on the task at hand! I’d describe it as somewhat of an adult etch-a-sketch, except there’s no shortage of pages and you don’t have to erase what you’ve done. I also have a ‘Connect’ plan to ensure cloud storage and access to all of the features.

I find the sensation of the reMarkable 2 the closest thing to writing on paper I have come across in a device to date. There is an ever so slight delay with the eraser which did bug me in the beginning, but that’s probably a function of our reduced/zero patience with regards to technology.
